Thelma Krull: Search for missing woman continues 3 months on

Sunday marks three months since Thelma Krullwent missing from the north part of Transcona.

The 57-year-old set out on a walk on the morning of July 11. When she never returned, family became concerned and called police.

Apair of Krull's glasses were found on the grounds of Valley Gardens Community Centre four days after she went missing. Aside from that, investigatorshave admitted to running low onleads in the case.

Krull has been missing for 93 days. Family and people from the community have been looking for her since Julyand they were back at it again combing the Valley Gardens area Sunday morning.

Wearing purple headbands and shirts in honour ofKrull, the five searchers expressed frustration at the dwindling number of volunteers that are coming out for the weekly searches.

Bill McCausland arranges weekly searches for Krullthrough aFacebook page dedicated to her. He's watched the search party shrink consistently over time.

"That is what is really heartbreaking.... I can't understand why nobody wants to come out and help us," McCausland said.

"Coming across nothing; it's hard. We're at the point where we're even yelling her name."

Less than 10 people are showing up for the weekly searches at this point, McCauslandsaid,

'A mom to everyone'

SearcherSusan Dellworks with Krull andsaid she misses talking with herover the wall separating their desks. The two work for S.P.I.K.E. (Special People in Kildonan East), a support agency that helps people with mental and physical disabilities.

"She'd want us to keep goingand she wouldn't want her clients to suffer," said Dell, addingKrull was "like a mom to everyone."

"If she could see thesupportand the amount of people, I mean total strangers [looking for her], I think she would be shocked."

Dell was out of town but came home to help whenshe heard Krull was missing. Dell said shehas difficult moments every day at work that are almost unbearable.

"I think of her and I think of what she would tell me," said Dell. "She would always ground me, she'd say, 'Oh no, everything's going to be OKand you guys need to make it work."

Not giving up

Sheadded that she won't give up the search until Krull is located.

"We miss you so much, we want you home," said Dell. "It's Thanksgiving weekend and we need you to come home to your family."

McCauslandencouraged Winnipeggers to join the weekly search this fall.

"The weather's beautiful still and we want to continue this until the snowfall," he said.

Krullis described as five foot four inches tall,170 poundsand hasshort dyed-blonde hair with a purple streak andglasses. She was last seen wearing a brightorange T-shirt, length capri pants, a black fanny pack and tan coloured hiking shoes.
