Tornado warning ended for southern Manitoba

Environment Canada has ended a tornado warning for the rural municipalities of Piney, La Broquerie, Stuartburn, De Salaberry and Hanover.

The warning, which was issued shortly after 3:30 p.m. CT, covered the communities ofLaBroquerie,Marchand,Zhoda,Vita,Sundown,Piney,Woodridge,Sandilands,St-Pierre-Jolys,St.Malo,Steinbach,NivervilleandGrunthal.

The RM of Ritchot was originally covered in the warning as well,after an eyewitness there reported seeing a funnel cloud near Ste.Agathe, but forecasters believe the area no longer faces a tornado risk.

Earlier in the afternoon, Environment Canada issued a tornado warning forthe RMs of Ritchot and MacDonald,as well as the city of Winnipeg. It was later dropped.
