TrevorPemberton, 37,is a professor of biochemistry and medical genetics at the University of Manitoba and a researcher at the Children's Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba.

His research focuses on understanding how the geographic distribution of genetic variation relates to the susceptibility of different populations to disease, and ultimately how these differences in disease susceptibility reflect the distinct histories and cultures of human populations.

His studies have included populations from all over the world but have a particular emphasis on indigenous populations in Africa and North America as well as the population of India.

Dr.Pembertonis the only computational geneticist in Manitoba and a leader in his field in Canada. He has won numerous awards for his work and was a keynote speaker at the Western Molecular Diagnostic Laboratories conference in 2014.

He has been an enthusiastic judge at Winnipeg School Division science fairs and national student research competitions.
