Two boys charged after fire on Garden Hill First Nation

A pair of boys aged 12 and 13 have been charged with arson after a fire in the band office inGarden Hill First Nation on Monday.

Just before 10:30 a.m., an Island Lake RCMP officer noticed the fire in the unoccupied building, which was under construction, RCMP said in a release on Thursday.

After hearing voices in the building, the officer went in through a window and found a boywas still inside. He was able to get the youth out safely, and another had already exited the building.

There were no injuries, RCMP said.

The investigation is ongoing.
