University of Manitoba students sleep outside to raise money for homeless

Six University of Manitoba students will live without cash, access to food or showers and sleep outside this week in an attempt to raise money for the city's homeless youth.

5 Days for the Homeless is a national campaign that raises awareness and cash for people without homes.

The University of Manitoba has participated inthe campaign for nine years.

So far this year, they've raised more than $10,000 and have a fundraising goal of $25,000.

They have already held concert fundraisers and a 5K run, and this week they will have students sleep outside for five nights.

In addition to sleeping outdoors, the six students won't shower or carry cash or identification. They will only eat food that has been donated to them and they still must attend all of their classes.

All of the money raised will go to Resource Assistance for Youth, a group that works with homeless youth in Winnipeg.
