What to know about the Midland riding for Manitoba's 2023 election

The south-central Manitoba riding Midland was created in 2008, but its boundaries changed significantly in the most recent riding redistribution, which took place in 2018.

The south-central Manitoba riding Midland was created in 2008, but its boundaries changed significantly in the most recent riding redistribution, which took place in 2018.

Midland shrank somewhat and shifted eastward, losing some of its western territory to nearby ridings Agassiz, Spruce Woods and Turtle Mountain, but gaining new territory to the east.

The riding includes the communities of Carman, Morris, St. Claude, La Salle, Elm Creek and Starbuck.

Midland's population is 23,980, according to the riding's profile (which includes information compiled from the 2021 census).

The median age of the riding is roughly on par with the overall provincial median, at 38.8 in Midland compared to 38.4 provincewide, according to the riding profile and the 2021 census. The census found the median household income in the area is $92,000.

  • James Kane (Liberal).
  • Lauren Stone (Progressive Conservative).
