What to know about the St. James riding for Manitoba's 2023 election

The central Winnipeg riding of St. James has been around since 1958.

The central Winnipeg riding of St. James has been around since 1958.

The riding's northern boundary runs along Notre Dame Avenue and the southern end of the rural municipality of Rosser. Its southern boundary runs along Ness Avenue from Moray Street east to Mount Royal Road, where the boundary then extends south.

The Assiniboine River forms the southern boundary from Conway Street to Empress Street, where the riding's boundary then runs north to Portage Avenue.

Its eastern boundary runs from Portage Avenue north to Notre Dame.

The riding includes the neighbourhoods of St. James, Deer Lodge and Long Plain First Nation's urban reserve.

Its population is 21,320, according to Elections Manitoba's 2023 riding profile (compiled using data from the 2021 census).

The median age in St. James is 38.8, according to the riding profile, virtually the same as the provincial median of 38.4. The median household income in the riding is $78,000, according to the riding profile.
