What to know about the Transcona riding for Manitoba's 2023 election

East Winnipeg's Transcona riding has been around since 1969, though its boundaries changed significantly in the 2018 riding redistribution when it gained a large portion of the nearby Radisson riding.

The Transcona riding now runs between Gunn Road to the north and Fermor Avenue and St. Boniface Road to the south. Its eastern boundary runs along the Perimeter Highway, Murdock Road and Plessis Road, while its western boundary runs along Day Street, Plessis Road and Lagimodire Boulevard.

Its population is 23,565, according to Elections Manitoba's riding profile,compiled using data from the 2021 census.

The median age in the Transcona riding is 38.4 the same as the provincial median age while its median household income is $88,000.

  • A total of 14.5 per cent of residents in the riding identified as Indigenous, according to the riding's profile.
  • Just over 18 per cent of the riding's residents identify as visible minorities.

  • Arthur Bloomfield (Liberal).
  • Titi Tijani (Progressive Conservative).

Candidates become official when they meet criteria set out in the province's Elections Act, including providing a statement of disclosure, after the election has been called. In Transcona, all candidates are official.
