Bus fares set to go up by a nickel

Its going to cost a little bit more to take the bus starting next month.

New Winnipeg Transit and Handi-Transit fares take effect Jan. 1, 2017

It's going to cost a little bit more to take the bus in Winnipeg starting next month.

Regular fares on Winnipeg Transit and Handi-Transitgo up by five cents starting on Jan. 1, 2017.

Riders will now have to pay $2.70, up from $2.65. Reduced and senior cash fares will be $2.20.

The annual fare increases arepegged to inflation and are implemented without city council approval through the fees and charges bylaw.

2016 bus tickets will be accepted until March 31, 2017.
