Winnipeg homeowners light up the night with holiday displays

We visited some of the best (and brightest) houses around the city to see how Winnipeggers are getting into the holiday spirit. If you have a photo of a great holiday display, please email it to CBC Manitoba at talkback@cbc.ca.

Winnipeg has long been known to show its holiday spirit through elaborate home lighting displays.

Every year some of the same homeowners can be relied on to break out the strings of lights and create a festive display.

This year is no exception.

CBC visited some of the Christmas hot spots around the city.

Longtime participants like Candy Cane Lane (Foxmeadow Drive), PolarBear Lane (Hennessey Drive)and Shorecrest Drive are sure to wow visitors who like to take in the lights year after year.

Some of the displays include more than just lights. There's a fully functioning train the the front yard at 569 Island Shore Blvd.

There are thousands of lights and characters at 275 Aldgate Rd. in a displaytimed to music that's being used toraisemoney for acharity.

So grab a cup of hot chocolate and get out and see the lights. If you find any spectacular houses that aren't in our photo gallery, please email a photo with location informationto CBC Manitoba at talkback@cbc.ca.
