On Aug. 5, Manitoba Conservation was called tothe West End near Polo Park Shopping Centre after reports of a coyote in the area.

Natural resources officers and police were seen in the area of Strathcona Street that day. The animal was located, tranquilized and transported it to the Wildlife Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre in le-des-Chnes.

Workers at the rehabilitation centre initially suspected the young coyote was injured.

"When we did our examination, we didn't see any signs of injury and it looked pretty healthy," a spokesperson with Wildlife Haven said.

The pup was allowed to matureover the last two months at the centre.

"We just kept it for a little bit until it was old enough to be on its own again," the spokesperson said.

Wildlife workers released the little guy back into the wild Friday in a rural area about 25 minutes south of Winnipeg.

The wildlife centre hasn't received any additional reports of urban coyotes since August, the spokesperson added.
