Tough loss for Jets, memorable moment for Ladd

The Winnipeg Jets fell to the Dallas Stars for the fourth time this season Tuesday night at the MTS Centre.

Winnipeg scored twice in the second frame to tie the game,but the Stars shot back, scoringthree in the third for the win and snappinga three-game losing skid in the process.

Much of the conversation ahead of the Tuesday nightgame was surrounding pending free agent and potential trade target Andrew Ladd.

If Ladd gets dealt before the loomingdeadline, the game against Dallas could turn out tobehis last in a Jets Jersey atthe MTS Centre. Ladd scored a shorthanded goal near the end of the second;it was his fourth goal in three games.

Jets fans gave their captaina standing ovation.

After the game,Laddsaid it was a special moment and that he has appreciatedthe support from fans the entire time he and his family havebeen in Winnipeg. When asked if he would be open to resigning in Winnipeg even if he was traded at the NHL trade deadline, Ladd said he would always be open to anything.

Head coach Paul Maurice said the standing ovation from fanswas theright response for the moment. Maurice also praised Ladd's play and leadership playing with Adam Lowryin only his second NHL season and Joel Armia, who has less than 40 NHL games under his belt.
