Man arrested with homemade gun faces 35 charges

A man, 19, faces 35 charges after police arrested him with a homemade firearmcalled a zip gunThursday morning.

A man faces 35 charges after police arrested him with a homemade firearmcalled a zip gunThursday morning.

Police officers were in the 300-block of Manitoba Avenue at about 10:30 a.m. when they spotted a man they knew had an active arrest warrant, police said in a news release Friday.The suspect ran away when officers tried to speak with him.

When officers eventually arrested him a backyard, they found a"improvised firing device," or zip gunloaded with a .308 round, a knife, ammunition and parts for two additional zip guns.

The suspect, 19, has been charged with35 different Criminal Codeoffences related to firearms violations and breaches of court orders, with multiple counts of some offences.

He remains incustody.
