Man pushed to the ground, kicked outside convenience store Thursday: Winnipeg police

Winnipeg police say a man in his 50s was physically assaulted while walking to a convenience store on Stadacona Street on Thursday evening.

Winnipeg police say a man in his 50s was physically assaulted while walking to a convenience store on Thursday evening.

The man was walking tothe store on Stadacona Street around 6:20 p.m. when a manhe didn't know walked toward him while saying something, police said in a news release on Sunday.

When the victim didn't respond, he was pushed to the ground and kicked inthe body and head. Police said he managed to get up and enter the store before the attacker followed him inside and demanded he buycigarettes for the man.

The victim refused and was assaulted again until a store employee said they were calling police, according to the release.

The attacker fled the scene, police said. The victim, who had minor injuries, reported the incident to police on Friday, the news release said.

Police are still searching for the attacker who they describe as a man in his 20s with a medium build and short black dreadlock-style hair.
