Winnipeg's River Point Centre to help people beat addiction

A new centre to help people beat addictions is set to open in Winnipeg.

The 85,000 square-foot River Point Centre was a joint project developed by the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba, the Main Street Project, the Behavioural Health Foundation and the Province of Manitoba.

"We are so pleased to work together with our partners from Main Street Project and Behavioural Health Foundation in this River Point location," said chief executive officerYvonne Block, Addictions Foundation Manitoba, in a statement. "These kinds of partnerships will definitely enhance the services and supports that we provide to our clients."

The centre will have 70 beds and treat as many as 2,000 individuals a year.

Services on offer include non-medical detox, addiction and substance abuse awareness, intensive day programs, and residential treatments.

The government said neighbours in the area were consulted before the centre was built on Magnus.
