Police make arrest in 1st Winnipeg homicide of 2020

Officers responding to a call found an injured woman Friday night at a house on Hindley Avenue, betweenSt. Mary's Road and Fitzpatrick Road, the Winnipeg Police Service said in a news release. The woman was taken to hospital in critical condition and pronounced dead.

Winnipeg police are investigating the city's first homicide of 2020 at a house in the St. Vital area.

Police said officers responded to a report of suspicious circumstancesin the Worthington neighbourhood at 6:13 p.m. Friday.

Soon after, officers found an injured woman at a house on Hindley Avenue betweenSt. Mary's Road and Fitzpatrick Road, the Winnipeg Police Service said in a news release.

The woman was taken to hospital in critical condition and pronounced dead. A man has been arrested in connection with the death, the release said.

A City of Winnipeg spokesperson confirmed Saturday morning that the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Serviceresponded to the house on Hindley Avenue at 6:17 p.m. Friday.

Saturday morning, police and cadet vehicles were stationed in front of and behind the house, whichwascordoned off with yellow police tape.

Winnipeg police said the homicide unit is investigating, and more information is expected to be released on Monday.
