Winnipeg is on track for a $2.5-million surplus at the end of the year, the latest financial status report says.

Figures from the end of October have improved the year-end projection from a $600,000 deficit to a $2.5-million surplus, states the report, which goes before council's finance committee on Dec. 1.

It's commonplace for the city's financial projections to improve over the course of the year. The final figures for 2016 will be posted in February.
