Spraying will happen between 9:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m.

Mosquito trap counts have shot up in the past few days, to a city-wide average of 77.In order to spray, the city's AFA (Adulticiding Factor Analysis) rating needs to be rated as high, which it is now.

The rating is affected by several factors:

  • Soil moisture conditions.
  • Forecasted rainfall.
  • Percentage of nuisance adult mosquitoes collected from traps.
  • Current stage of adult mosquito generation.
  • Current status of larval developmentand the outlook for adult mosquito emergence in the short term.

As well, at least one of the city trapsneeds to have a minimum of100 female adult mosquitoes and the city-wide average trap count must be at least 25 for two consecutive nights.

The first areas to be sprayed will be identified by the city on Thursday, at least eight hours ahead of the fogging start.
