Chop Steakhouse will be the feature restaurant in the True North Square development in downtown Winnipeg, True North Real Estate announced Thursday.

The restaurant will be included in the 8,000-square-feet of ground floor retail space included in the multi-building development.

Developers also provided a timeline for the luxury hotel and residential units slated to take up two of the four towers in the squarewest of Carlton Street.

Northland Properties will break ground on the 27-storey, 288-room Sutton Place Hotel and its accompanying 17-storey, 130-unit residential tower in spring or summer of next year, the Vancouver-based company said.

Those towers are expected to be done by 2020.

Construction is already underway on the other two towers at 242 Hargrave St. and 225 Carlton St. The finished towers will include 410,000 square feet of office and retail space and are set to be completed by June 29, 2018.

"I think timelines are important. I think commitments are important," said True North Development president Jim Ludlow. "We are now seeing, in its full render, the final version of what True North Square's going to look like."

The $400-million downtown development is set to be completely finished by 2021.

In March, Winnipeg city councilvotedto refund up to $3.2 million worth of municipalproperty taxes that will flow from the first phase of the development.
