Weekend weather in Manitoba shattering records

While Sunday's forecast isn't quite the province-wide record-smashing event Saturday turned into, unseasonably warm weather should continue to keep Manitobans parka-free for yet another November day.

That's the scoop from CBC Meteorologist John Sauder, who says Sunday in Winnipeg will be mild with a sun-cloud mix with a high of 13C.

Enjoy it: Sauder is forecasting daily high temperatures to start dipping throughout the week, with the possibility of falling temperatures, wet snow, and chilly winds by Friday afternoon.

But why dwell on the future when you can bask in the glorious past?

According to Environment Canada, areas across the entire province enjoyed record-breaking highs on Saturday due to unseasonably warm Pacific air wafting in.

Some highlights include:

• Berens River saw a high of 14.9 C, shattering a previous Nov. 12 record of 8.9 C set in 1923.
• Churchill's high was 5.5 C, replacing the record of 1.1 C set on that date in 1977.

Way down in Manitoba'ssouth, the town of Emerson saw a new record high of 15 C, besting a historical Nov. 12 high of 13.9 C set in 2007.

Winnipeg's high reached 13.6 C, just slightly warmer than the record of 13.2 C set on Nov. 12, 1981 the same day of thefirst-ever successful air balloon crossing of the Pacific Ocean.
