Woman recovering from stabbing

The condition of a woman stabbed Tuesday afternoon at a hotel in downtown Winnipeg is improving, according to police.

The woman was initially taken to hospital in critical condition but is now listed as stable, police said.

Police were called to the Woodbine Hotel at 466 Main St. just after 3 p.m.

The owner of a nearby business, who didn't want to be identified, told CBC News there was a "vicious fight" between two women. Two men intervened to try to break it up, she said.

Yellow police tape surrounded the hotel for several hours Tuesday as police investigated the scene.

No further details have been released by police, and no arrests have been made.
