2 men died in murder-suicide on Wordsworth Way, Winnipeg police say

Police say two bodies found inside a home on Wordsworth Way on Aug. 7 were the result of a murder-suicide.

Winnipeg police confirm the deaths of two men onWordsworth Way were the result of a murder-suicide.

Luis Miguel Almeida, 33, attacked his partnerKok Aun Tee, 37, before killing himself, police said at a news conference Tuesday.

Officers on patrol were flagged down by a family member on Aug. 7 around 3p.m. to check the well-being of someone inside. Police forced their way in and found the bodies.

Const.Jay Murray wouldn't be more specific about how the men died or whether any weapons were involved, other than to say Almeida'sinjuries were self-inflicted.

The homicide unit was investigating and police previously said the incident posed no risk to the Westwood neighbourhood where the house is located.

Neither Tee nor Almeidawere known to police, Murray said.

This is the second homicide this year in which a suspect has killed himself, he said. Both involved couples.

Police were called to a home on Buckingham Road on May 21 and found two adults dead inside.

A homicide investigation revealed 50-year-old Angela Turner was killed by her 58-year-old husband, Lorne Turner, who then killed himself.

Police said the couple had separated in the weeks before their deaths.

A spokespersonat Motor Coach Industries, where Tee worked, said in a statement, "The MCI team is saddened by the loss of our colleague and friend Kok Aun Tee and unable to provide any further comments."
