Concordia University/CBC student journalism series explores Montreal's stories after sundown

MTL After Darkis a collaboration between the Department of Journalism at Concordia University and CBC Montreal.

Undergraduate students and graduate-diploma students in a graduate-level multimedia course found and produced original stories based onthe theme of Montreal after dark.

Working in small teams, they spent the winter semester developing their stories in text, audio, video, photography, infographics, and maps.

HlneBauerjust completed thegraduate diploma program in journalism at Concordia University. She's now a freelance journalist and the former current affairs editor at The Link newspaper.

Interested in the urban landscape, she's looking to discover how communities engage with the city and how the city shapes society.


Matthew Civico
Matthew Civico

Matthew Civico is a freelance writer and editor who loves taking deep dives into the untapped themes running through pop culture. He enjoys asking big questions and making complicated topics accessible, especially when there's a chance to reference hobbits.

He is excited about the future of podcasts but remains unconvinced about the future in general.

Diandra D'Alessio

Diandra D'Alessio is completing her graduate diploma in journalism at Concordia. She also has a background in history, and earned her BA in 2014 and her MA in 2015.

Diandra was the recipient of the2015-16 Sportsnet/Rogers Media Inc. Scholarship.

Marie Brirede La Hosseraye recently completed the graduate diploma in journalism at Concordia University. In addition to herclasses, she was the fringe arts editor at The Link newspaperand the editorial intern at Air Canada's enRoute magazine. She is now a freelance multimedia journalist.

She is fascinated by the concept of culture and its intersection with identity.

JosphinedeLambillyis journalism student at Concordia University. She studied history and political sciences in France before arriving inCanada. She's interested in cinema and the promotion of culture.

Thomas Dumont is in his third year of themultiplatformjournalism program atConcordiaUniversity. He is interested in the music and tech industries, and hopes to one day host his own radio show.

Chanel Jacques is a multiplatform journalism student. She is passionate about various subjects from sports to straight news as well as investigative journalism.

Jacques simply wants to report stories and unveil the truth.

BraydenJaggerHainesis in his third year of audio-visual journalism with a minor in law and society. He is striving to be a future reporter in the bustling, fast paced world of news. He sees himself reporting on politics, law, sports and current affairs.

He is lighthearted and considers himself quite the witty joker with a deep-seated drive to be successful.

Minaz Kerawala is a writer, editor and reporter with extensive communications experience in India, the United Kingdom and Canada. For various magazines and blogs, Minaz has covered the arts, literature, community affairs, international development and the environment.

His principal interests are in long-form journalism and the role of the media in society.

She enjoys telling stories through radio and video.

AnsonMcCuaigis a freelance journalist and former campus/community radio host for CFRU 93.3 FM.

He is interested in anything related to festival culture, music and arts.
