ADQ accuses Liberals of improper contracts

The Action dmocratique du Qubec party is accusing the Liberal government of handing out hundreds of millions of dollars in untendered contracts, most of them to Liberal party donors.

But Transport Minister Sam Hamad said Friday the government has nothing to hide, and he accused the ADQ of lying.

ADQ house leader Sylvie Roy said the Transport Ministry handed out nearly $300 million in contracts without going through a public-tendering process.

She said close to 80 per cent of those contracts went to Liberal party donors.

Roy said the government is not following the recommendations in a recent report from the province's auditor general. It questioned the Transport Ministry's practice of awarding contracts without issuing calls for tender, and recommended changes to the process.

Hamad said the ministry is incorporating most of those recommendations, and, he said, the ADQ's accusations are false.

Hamad also said all the contracts are available to view on the ministry's website.
