Alma CEGEP on alert after anti-women Facebook post

A CEGEP in Alma has beefed up security after one of its students was charged with allegedly uttering threats against women.

A CEGEP in Almahas beefed up security after one of its students was charged withallegedlyuttering threats against women.

AlexPagwas charged on Thursday in connection witha poston Facebook in which police allege he said hewantedto commit a secondPolytechniquemassacre.

The post is said to include positive comments about the actions of Marc Lpine, who killed 14 women in 1989.

Pag,21,was also charged with producingjuvenilepornography.

Administrators at theCollge d'Alma, wherePag was studying to become a police officer, contacted police after teachers relayed the concerns of students who saw the alleged Facebook post.

"In order to reassure students and staff, we took measures to increase security inside the college, and we asked for reinforcements outside the college," said the CEGEP's communications officer,FrdricTremblay.

There are extra security guards on campus, and provincial police have increased their patrols in the area, Tremblay said.

Pagwas granted bail and is currently living with his parents.

The CEGEP has yet to decide whether to suspendPag, though for the moment it is not allowing him to attend class.
