Bonaventure Expressway to be replaced with boulevard, Denis Coderre says

Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre has announced a stretch of the Bonaventure Expressway will be ripped up and replaced by an urban boulevard.

Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre has announced a stretch of the Bonaventure Expressway will be replaced by an urban boulevard. Construction will begin in 2015.

Coderre said the expressway will remain open during construction. He said the province and city will work to minimize the impact on traffic flow.

The new version will featuregreen space and nineground level lanes. It willhave pedestrian corridors andconnect to new cycling paths on William Street andOttawa Street.

The project should be completed in 2017, in time for Montreal's 375th birthday, Coderresaid.

It will be renamedRobert-BourassaBoulevard.
