Worker discovers bones at Turcot Interchange site

A heavy machinery operator made a surprising discovery while working at the Turcot Interchange construction site Tuesday night.

At around 10:15, he was digging with a machine at the site when he noticed something in the shovel.

When he went to get a closer look, he realized he had dug up bones.

The workers couldn't figure out whether the bones belonged to a human or an animal so they called Montreal police.

The bones have been sent to be analyzed. Results are expected in the weeks to come.

Police spokesperson Daniel Lacoursire pointed out the bones were found at the site of aformer tannery, so there would have been plenty of animals in the area.
