Border services agents protest job cuts at Montreal's Trudeau airport

Border Services agents represented by the Customs and Immigration Union are protesting against job cuts which they say create a more dangerous situation for Canadians.

Canada Border Security agents represented by theCustoms and Immigration Union are staging a demonstration at Montreal'sTrudeauairport today to protest recent job cuts.

Union president Jean-Pierre Fortin said that cutbacks have created a more dangerous situation for Canadians.

The automated kiosks that are replacing border and security agents could lead to an increase in criminals and drug smugglers entering the country,said Fortin.

About 200 union membersare protesting against the loss of jobs, saying that the kiosks cannot replace well-trained agents and customs inspectors.
