Canada Day activities postponed in Pointe-Claire, Dollard-des-Ormeaux

A gloomy forecast of rain and thunderstorms means many Montreal-area Canada Day events are postponed or cancelled.

Rainy weather threatens some celebrations, but there's still plenty to do if you don't mind getting wet

A gloomy forecast of rain and thunderstorms means many Canada Day events are postponed or cancelled, but if you're still in the mood to celebrate,most events in Montreal's Old Portare still a go rain or shine.

Here's a list of which events are cancelledand which ones are still on in Montreal and Quebec City.

Cancelled/Postponed/Changed:

  • Beaconsfield: Fireworks postponed to July 10. Other activities will take place tomorrow, indoors at the Recreation Centre (1974 City Lane.)
  • Dollard-des-Ormeaux:Celebration postponed to July 2.
  • Dorval: Celebration postponed to July 2.
  • Montreal West:Celebration postponed toJuly 2.Festivities will kick off on the new datewith a parade at 5 p.m. Fireworks at Strathearn Parkat 10 p.m.
  • Old Port of Montreal:In-line dancing classes and children's obstacle course are cancelled.
  • PointeClaire: All activities atBourgeauPark have been cancelled, but theCitizenship Court ceremony at StewartHall (2 p.m. - 3 p.m.) and the Lakeshore Chamber OrchestraatSaint-JoachimChurch (8 p.m.) will go ahead as planned.

What's still on?

  • Quebec City:Activities all day on the Plains of Abraham and around the city.Some events could be cancelled at the last minute due to weather.

  • LaRonde/ Old Port of Montreal Fireworks:Rain or shine.

  • Montreal Parade:11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. heading east on St.Catherine Street West from Fort Street to Phillips Square.

  • Old Port ofMontreal:Almost all of the festivities will go ahead, rain or shine. The inflatable games andthe outdoor hockey zone may be cancelled at the last minute if the rain is too heavy.
