French-language superhospital CHUM delayed by months

The opening of the Centre hospitalier de l'Universite de Montral (CHUM) superhospital will be delayed by half a year, Radio-Canada has learned.

The opening of the Centre hospitalier de l'Universite de Montral (CHUM) superhospitalwill be delayed by half a year, Radio-Canada has learned.

A formal announcement about the delay is expected to be made later today.

The existing hospitals in the French-language teaching hospitalnetwork Notre-Dame, Saint-Lucand Htel Dieu will remain open five toseven months longer than scheduledto accommodate patients.

The CHUM, which is being built by a public-private partnership, was initially slated to be handed over to the Quebec government on April 22. That date will now be pushed to the fall.

The McGillUniversity Health Centre (MUHC) superhospitalopened in April 2015, on schedule.
