Call for Applications: 2021 CBC/QWF Digital Writers in Residence

CBCQuebecand the Quebec Writers' Federation are now taking submissions for the 2021 Digital Writers-in-Residence program.

This opportunity is open to all residents of Quebec.

We are looking for a broad range of perspectives, including those from new voices. We will be selecting three writers with diverse backgrounds and experiences.

If you have a unique point of view and a fresh way of presenting it, we invite you to apply. You do not have to be a published writer.

To apply, writers should submit a 600 word nonfiction personal essay (in English) based on the theme of "light and dark". Essays must be previously unpublished.

The theme can be broadly interpreted. Submissions should be lively and should explore the theme in new, unexpected ways. For example, writers could touch on any of the following areas:

  • Natural change seasons

  • Environment

  • Physical forces

  • Human Interest

  • Personal struggle

  • Metaphorical meaning

The deadline for submissions is 11:59 on Dec. 22. Three winners will be announced in January 2021. Essays will appear on cbc.ca/montreal in early 2021.

Three winners will receive:

  • Dedicated time with a CBC editor to fine-tune their story for publication on cbc.ca/montreal.

  • $250 as a contributor when their story is published (early 2021).

  • Annual membership to QWF($40 value)or equivalent toward QWF workshop.
