For the fourth weekend, major roadwork will take place this weekend on the Champlain and Nuns Island bridges.

Two lanes will remain open through the Champlain corridor for most of the weekend, except during evening and overnight hours when only one lane will be available towards the South Shore.

Drivers on Nuns Island trying to access the Champlain Bridge will find the 15 South completely closed all weekend until Monday 5 a.m.

If the construction work runs on schedule, The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated said this weekend will be the last time drivers will face slowdowns on the spans.

Once this fourth blitz is completed, the major work blitzes will take a break on the Champlain Bridge during the summer, while the major work on the Honor-Mercier Bridge takes place, read a statement from the bridge authority.

Crews will still work on pillars and beams located under the Champlain Bridge throughout the summer, but lane closures will not be necessary.

All weekend, the speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/h. Lane width will be reduced to three metres. Trucks that require wider lanes will have to find alternate routes.
