- Quebec reported 799new cases of COVID-19 and two new deaths Tuesday. Five deaths that occurred between Sept. 22 and 27 were also added to the total. Since the start of the pandemic, there have been73,450confirmedcases and5,833peoplehave died.
- There are 247peoplein hospital (an increase of 35), including 41 in intensive care(an increase of four).
The greater Montreal area, Quebec City and the Chaudire-Appalaches regionare now considered red zones under the province's COVID-19alert system.
This means residents will now be faced with new restrictions as the province tries to control the surge in cases, includingthe closing of restaurant dining rooms and bars, as well as a ban on home gatherings.
