Cyclist killed in Montreal road accident

A 27-year-old cyclist is dead after being run over by a car in the Rosemont-La-Petite-Patrie area of Montreal.

A 27-year-old cyclist is dead after being run over by a car in the Rosemont-La-Petite-Patriearea of Montreal.

Const. Andr Leclerc of Montreal police said the man was biking on St-Denis Street just after 9 p.m. Saturday when he somehow lost control of his bike and fell onto the ground.

He was then hit by the car travelling behind him.

"The driver couldn't avoid the cyclist who fell down," Leclerc said.

Theyoung man was transported to hospital in critical condition, and he died shortly thereafter.

The driver was treated for shock and will likely not face charges.

Leclerc said investigators are trying to figure out what caused the cyclist to lose control of his bike.
