Dawson students collect messages of peace for 10th anniversary of school shooting

Dawson students are hoping to collect a total of 10,000 messages of peace from around the world to mark the 10-year anniversary of the school shooting.

Students hope to gather 10,000 messages from around the world

Five years ago, students at Dawson College started a project to collect peace messages from around the world.

This year, as they prepare for the 10th anniversary of the shooting at the college,they're bringing it back.

To mark the anniversaryon Sept. 13,students are hoping to collect a total of 10,000 messages of peace from all 193 countries which belong tothe United Nations.

Eighteen-year-old Anastasia De Sousawas killed and another 19 peoplewere injured in the shooting after a gunman entered the English-languageCEGEPin downtown Montrealand opened fire.

So far, messages on the Peace Wall hailfrom Canada and the United States, to countries as far away asRussia, the Philippines, Cameroon and India.
