Denis Coderre orders snow clearing review after ice storm

Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre says the city's comptroller will look at each borough to see how they cleared the snow and ice after the storm in early January.

Montreal Mayor Denis Coderresays he wants the full picture of how snow removal operations went last week.

Earlier this month, the was hit withsnow and ice rain,followedby plunging temperatures that turned streets and sidewalks into sheets of ice.

Coderresaid the city's comptroller will look at each borough to see how they cleared the snow and ice after the storm.

The city received more than 3,000complaints to its 311 information line during andafter the storm,mainly about slipperysidewalks.

Between Jan. 5 and Jan. 9, theSud-Ouest,VilleraySaint-MichelParc-ExtensionandCte-des-NeigesNotre-Dame-de-Grceboroughs received the most complaints, records show.

TheSud-Ouestgot the most calls from residents, with a total of 243 during the five-day period.

Coderresaid he wants to see whyMontrealersare dissatisfied and what can be done to help.

He said he doesn't want to blame anyone, but added,"someone didn't do their job."

The results of the audit will be made publicnext Wednesday.
