TheDorvaltunnel on Highway 13 in Montrealreopened to traffic Thursday morning after being closed last week due to flooding.

In a morning news release, Quebec'sTransport Ministry says Highway 13is now reopened to motorists between Highways 40 and 520.

The government had asked road usersto avoid the areaafter last week's heavy rainfalldamaged the tunnel's pumping stationand led to severe water accumulation.

Theministry said teams have been working to restore temporary pumping capacity and lighting in the tunnel.

However, this stretch of the highway will close again fromFriday 11:59 p.m. to Sunday 5 a.m.,to continue work on the pumping station, which could take several weeks.

"With the rain forecast, the closure will also allow the ministry to ensure that the pumping system is effective in removing water from the traffic lanes," the release reads.

For the sake of co-ordination, officials say, the closure of the le-aux-Tourtes bridge scheduled for this weekend is cancelled.
