Montrealers, here are the 10 candidates who want to become your next mayor

Montrealers will have a list of ten candidates to choose from when deciding who their next mayor will be.

Montrealers will get to choose their next mayor from a long list of candidates in the upcoming municipal elections.

In total, ten candidates are vying for the top seat at City Hall.

Thoseincludeoutgoing mayor and Projet Montral leader Valrie Plante, former mayor and Ensemble Montral leader Denis Coderre,Mouvement Montreal leader Balarama Holness, Action Montral's Gilbert Thibodeauand Montral 2021's Luc Mnard.

There are also five independent candidates: Beverly Bernardo, Jean Duval, Fang Hu, Wilder Jules and Dimitri Mourkes.

Everyone vying for a chance to either become the next mayor of Montreal, a borough mayor, acity councillor, and a borough councillor had until 4:30 p.m. on Friday to submit their candidacy.

In total,347 people will be jostling for the 103 elected positions that are up for grabs in the city of Montreal. There are 65 people who will sitoncity council, once elected.

Projet Montral has candidates for all of them. Ensemble Montral has five fewer candidates due to a deal it made with the outgoing borough mayor of Anjou.

Luis Miranda endorsed Coderre. In exchange,Ensemble Montral will not present any candidates against Miranda's quipe Anjou party.

Mouvement Montreal will have 74 candidates in each of the city's 19 boroughs, following a surprise decision to mergewith Ralliement pour Montral.

Parties vying for boroughs, not the big seat

Miranda's quipe Anjou party is one of six parties with candidates only running at the borough level.

Sue Montgomery's Courage party in Cte-des-NeigesNotre-Dame-de-Grce, and TeamCDN-NDG are bothfighting for positions within that borough.

The other borough-only parties arequipe Lasalle, Parti Outremont andQuartiers Montral, headed by Giuliana Fumagalli, the outgoing mayor of VilleraySaint-MichelParc-Extension.

The elections are set for Nov. 6 and 7.
