Man, 71, dies following car fire in Quebec City

Firefighters performed life-saving measures on the man who had been inside the burning vehicle. He was rushed to hospital, where he later died.

A 71-year-old man has died after he was pulled from a car on fire in Quebec City.

Local police and fire services received a call around 2:23 a.m. about a vehicle engulfed in flames on de La Prade Street. At the scene, firefighters got the man out of the car before performing life-saving measures.

He was rushed to hospital where he later died.

The investigation was handed over to theService de police de la Ville de Qubec'smajor crimes unit, which established a perimeter as it works to understand the circumstances leading to the victim's death.

Police say that anyone with information should call 911 or its confidential tip line 418-641-2447.
