Longtime Liberal MP Marlene Jennings says she's been asked by Francois Legault to join his new provincial party.

A former high-profile Liberal MP says her next run for office may be under Franois Legaults new provincial political party in Quebec.

Marlene Jennings was a Liberal MP for 14 years, butlost her seat in Notre-Dame-de-Grace-Lachineto the NDP in the last federal election.

She said shes had two meetings with Legault and hes asked her to consider running for the Coalition Avenir Qubec (CAQ).

"Im seriously considering his offer," Jennings told CBC Montreals Daybreak Thursday morning.

A former Parti Qubcois cabinet minister, Legaultofficially launched his centre-right political partyin November.

Jenningssaid her goal in meeting with Legault was to help him understand the role and needs of the English-speaking communities in Quebec.

But, even if she does run for the CAQ, Jennings said she hopes to retain her role as president of the federal Liberal riding association for NDG-Lachine.
