Vanier College adds 15 gender-neutral washrooms

Vanier College is the latest educational institution to designate washroom gender-neutral for students who don't identify with either gender.

Vanier College is the latest educational institution to designate washroom gender-neutral for students who don't identify with either gender.

Fifteen washrooms across the college campusare now availablefor people of any sex or gender identity.

"Transgender, non-binaryand gender non-conforming members of ourcommunity have the right to feel safe using the washroom," VanierCollegesaid in a statement.

In a pamphlet about the washrooms, thecollegesays thatpeople whodo not conform to the "look" of either men or womenriskharassment and violence in gendered washrooms.

Vanier joins other colleges and universities who have designated gender-neutral washrooms.

McGill and Concordiauniversities have had them for a few years. Last year, Dawson College added a second such washroom.
