Grace Karam doesn't remember getting hit by car and flying five metres through the air. All she remembers is hearing a screeching sound and waking up next to the curb.

"I don't remember hitting the ground. I just remember waking up to this young woman's face and her asking what my name is, if I'm OK, if I can feel everything," the 18-year-old said.

"I was lying down, saw blood on the ground and thought where's that coming from?"

Karam was the victim of a hit-and-run in Pointe-Claire at 1:40 a.m. on Saturday. She was coming back from a late-night show, and as she was crossing the street outside thetrain station, a car slammed into her.

A witness said the car plowed through the stop sign and just kept going.

The hit-and-run happened on the corner of Donegani and Ashgrove Avenues in Pointe-Claire. (CBC)

Miraculously, she only suffered a broken nose and a concussion.

"The doctors, everyone was blown away. They say I had something like a guardian angel looking over me. And I believe it," she said.

Police are looking for a grey, four-door sedan, possibly a Nissan. Anyone with information is being asked to call their local station.

Karam thinks the driver had been drinking and is urging people to think twice before driving drunk.

"I can't imagine another kid in my shoes, having their parents look at them when they have a neck brace on and blood around them, not knowing if it's from the broken nose or from the concussion. That's pretty scary."
