Workers seem to be going ahead with plans to demolish theRedpath House, despite almost three decades of efforts to save the building.

Workers have already started to cut down several trees to make room for a new 80-unit student building that will replace the 128-year-old home.

The home, located at 3457 du Muse Street, is on HritageMontral's list of threatened heritage sites.

It was built in 1886 by architect Sir Andrew Taylor and, according to HritageMontral, it is one of therare remaining examplesof Queen Anne architecture in the city

The homewasoriginally built for theRedpathfamily, one of the most influential Montreal families of the19thcentury.

Hritage Montral and Save Montreal have been fighting to protect the home for yearsand obtained an injunction to stop the demolition in 1986.
