Inmate Sylvain Lauzon escapes from Laurentians prison

Provincial police are searching for inmate who escaped a medium-security prison unit early on Tuesday. Staff at Archambault Institution in Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines noticed Sylvain Lauzon, 43, was missing during their noon head count.

Provincial police are searching for an inmate who escaped from prison onTuesday.

Staff in a medium-security unit atArchambault Institution in Sainte-Anne-des-Plainesnoticed Sylvain Lauzon, 43, was missing during their noon head count.

Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) immediately contacted the Sret du Qubec and a warrant for Lauzon's arrest has been issued.

Lauzonis currently serving a four year and 10 months sentence for robberies, disguise, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and operation of a motor vehicle for getaway.

He is five feet nine inches tall, weighs144 pounds, has fair complexion, blue eyesand auburn hair.

Lauzon has two dragontattoos in a heart shapeon the right upper arm, other tattoos on the torso, left calf, and right shoulder, as well as a scar on the left ankle.

CSC is investigating the circumstances of the incident and working with police to locate the offender as quickly as possible.

Anyone with information on Lauzon's whereabouts is asked to contact police.
