Lawyer for accused conductor in Lac-Mgantic disaster wants more evidence

The lawyer for the Tom Harding, the train conductor charged in the Lac-Mgantic derailment that killed 47 people, is asking the Crown to divulge more evidence against his client.

The lawyer for Tom Harding, the train conductor charged in the Lac-Mgantic derailment that killed 47 people, is asking the Crown to divulge more evidence against his client.

Thomas Walsh said today he needs more evidence to support hismotion for a stay of proceedings in the case against Harding.

The Crown replied it has given the defence all necessaryinformation and that the evidence sought by Walsh is not pertinent.

Lawyers for the two other men charged in the case were also inattendance, as was the legal counsel for Montreal Maine and AtlanticRailway, a defunct railroad.

The three men and the railway are all charged with 47 counts ofcriminal negligence causing death after a train carrying crude oilderailed and exploded in Lac-Mgantic in July 2013, killing 47people.

All four have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
