Laval fatal shooting may be linked to organized crime

Quebec provincial police say they have taken over the investigating of a fatal shooting in Laval because it could be linked to organized crime.

Police say a homicide in Laval may be linked to organized crime.

Quebec provincial police say they have taken over the investigating of a fatal shooting in Laval because it could be linked to organized crime.

A man in his fifties was shot dead Wednesday at around 4 p.m. just outside a restaurant on Dagenais Blvd., in the district of Fabreville.

After reports of gunshots, Laval police found a man lying on the ground in the parking lot of a restaurant. (Radio-Canada)

Police are not releasing the name of the victim.

However, sources told Radio-Canada that the victim is 54-year-old RogerValiquette a man with ties to the mafia.

Gunshots heard

Laval police received reports of several gunshots. When they arrived on the scene, theyfound the victim on the ground in the parking lot of a restaurant.

Emergency technicians tried to revive him, but he was declared dead on site.

The Sret du Qubec has taken over the investigation because the case may involve organized crime.
