Man in his 30s in critical condition after Laval shooting

A man in his 30s is in critical condition in the hospital after being hit by at least one bullet Monday morning in Laval.

Police have made no arrests in shooting that occurred in a parking lot at 4 a.m.

A man in his 30s has been hospitalized incritical condition after being hit by at least one bullet on Monday morning in Laval.

The shooting occurred at about4a.m. in a municipal parking lot in front of a multi-unit residentialbuilding located on du Havre des lesAvenue.

The parking lot serves residents of du Tremblay Islandin the Chomedey neighbourhood, just north of Montreal.

A bullet casing was found on the ground near the scene, police say.

Laval policespokespersonConst.EvelyneBoudreau said an employee of the apartment building first alerted police to the incident.

The wounded man was found unconscious, she said, and he was still in critical condition by 7a.m. Monday, but his condition had improved.

Thoughthevictim is known by Laval police, she said he is not believedto be involved in organized crime.

Laval police investigators will be "combing the parking lot" for evidence, she said.

Thoselinked to the initial 911 call are being questioned,but it still has to be determined if the shooting itselfwas witnessed.

There are currently no suspects and police have made no arrests.
