Longueuil police seek man impersonating Canada Revenue Agency officer

The Longueuil police are asking for the public's help to find a man who is calling citizens and saying he is an officer with the Canada Revenue Agency.

Longueuil police say the man is telling people they owe CRA money.

The Longueuil police are asking for the public's help to find a man who is calling citizens and saying he is an officer with the Canada Revenue Agency.

Police say the man is telling people they owe CRA money.

The man will leave a message if nobody is at home, asking the victims to call back. When the number given is called, the person at the end of line answers as if from the agency.

Police are asking any victims to come forward to help them with this case.

Canada Revenue Agency has several tips to figure out if you are the victim of fraud.

It urges anybody who receives a call or email from somebody claiming to be a CRA officer to call the agency themselves to check if it is legitimate.

The agency has also published several examples of types of scams that have been reported whether by phone, email, text message or in person.
