Man gunned down in Laval had alleged Mafia links

The Sret du Qubec have launched a investigation into the death of a man in his 60s, who was gunned down on Saturday in Laval's Vimont neighbourhood.

A man with alleged ties to the Montreal Mafiahas been killed in a Saturday evening shooting in Laval.

TheSretduQubec have launched an investigation into the death of a man in his 60s, who has not yet been identified,after he wasgunned down around 5:30 p.m.in the Vimont neighbourhood.

A security perimeter was installed near the intersection ofArthur-MignaultandAntoine-Forestierstreets.

Sgt. Audrey-AnneBilodeausaid the shooting appeared to be linked to a "settling ofaccounts" within the Mafia.

The man was transported to hospital where he was declared dead,Bilodeau said.
