Missing Laval teen, feared recruited by prostitution ring, found safe

A missing 14-year-old girl from Laval, who was feared by her mother to have been recruited into a prostitution ring, has been found safe and sound.

A missing 14-year-old girl from Laval, who was feared by her mother to have been recruited into a prostitution ring, has been found safe and sound.

Late Wednesdayafternooon, Laval police issued a statement stating she was found by police"in good health."

The girl disappearedFeb. 1 from the group home where she'd been living for the past few weeks.

"I'm more than worried here," the girl'smother told CBC Montreal while her daughter was still missing."I don't understand what's going on. I don't understand why she didn't at least let me know that she was alive."

She said she tracked down onlineconversations between her daughter and an alleged street gang recruiterand said she had reason tofearthe teenager may have joined a gang or a prostitution ring in Ontario.

Despite warning her of the risks, the mother saidthe prospect of making quick money encouraged her daughter to stay in contact with the alleged recruiter.

The girl took advantage of an outdoor activity to run away from the youth centre.

Police would not say where the girl was,or whom she was with, when they found her.

2nd girl still missing

Another Laval teen also went missing a few days ago.

Her parents last saw the16-year-old girl Sunday night at their home.

"When I opened up the door, I was astonished to see that the window was open and the screen was taken off. So I knew right away that my daughter had run away from the house," the girl's father told CBC Montreal.

Her parents also fear she's been lured into a prostitution ring.

Laval police continue to search for her.
